I've only been here for oil and filter changes, but the guys have always been more than helpful and never pushy on trying to sell me on stuff I don't need for my car! As a young woman I always feel like car shops are trying to take advantage of me because I don't know what I'm talking about, but unbeknownst to them my grandfather owned an auto repair shop my whole life and I know more about cars then most women! The price, friendliness and honesty keeps me coming back to Funk Brothers! I'd recommend them to any of my friends!

I have been going to Funk Brothers for 7 years now. They have always gone out of their way to save me money. I owned a Porsche that was extremely expensive to maintain and Funk Brothers always manged to repair any problems at a price that always made me smile. Not only that, but they truly show customer loyalty and would always go out of their way to see me as soon as possible and have me back in my car in no time at all. My girl friend was worried that her breaks were bad on her Chrysler and we took it in to have the breaks done. We left the car with Hovig at F.B. and 30 minutes later i received a phone call that there was nothing wrong with the breaks and they still had quite a bit of life in them. Unfortunately I am moving out of state soon and one of the things I am worried about is being able to find a new mechanic that is as honest and fantastic as Funk Brothers has been.

Trusted these guys for 12 years with multiple vehicles; vintage, Euro and Asian. They know the WRX inside and out. Always upfront and reliable. Have referred at least a dozen folks who have been completely satisfied. If you don't want to pay for labor people then do it yourself!

I will never go anywhere else. They've been my mechanics for over a decade since I first move to LA. I could give you anecdote after anecdote about how they took great care of me, but I won't. What I will tell you is that they have tried, every time I've been in, to save me money. I go in, they diagnose the problem. Then we talk about all the options for fixing it. "We can get the dealer part, or I can get an aftermarket for less... or let me see if we can get a part from a junk yard... ok, so here are the options, the junkyard part is X, the dealer part is Y, there are two aftermarket parts that cost Z and A... If it were my money, I'd go with the aftermarket Z because they give a longer warranty than the aftermarket A, and it's basically the same as the dealer part... comes from the same factory. The junkyard part is too risky with this repair..." And it's the phrase "If it were my money," that makes all the difference. They don't want to repair your car in a cheapo way, nor do they want you to always go with the most expensive option. They repair your car like they would repair their own. What more needs to be said?

Funk Bros. is a great place. I took my car there for an oil change and they took care of it right away. I went to the 99 cent store across the street and when I came back my car was waiting for me all ready to go. The prices are great too.

These guys are awesome. I called the morning after Christmas and they got me in right away. I had seen another review that said they charged $18 for the oil change and even though that special was no longer valid, they honored the price. We were in and out in 30 minutes and they were super nice too. I will definitely go back.

Funk Bros has been my go-to local mechanic shop for three years, and I really appreciate their no BS approach to car repair. I work on my own car (oil, tune ups, brakes..thanks, Dad!), but I'm not a certified mechanic, and they walk me through any repairs I can't do myself, even showing me what needs to be repaired. I've brought two of my vehicles here--a Mazda Miata & Audi A4--and they treated them like they were both high line cars. The fact that they're happy to take things apart and check out what's going on "under the hood" without pricey estimates is a huge plus. Hovig (the operations manager) can tell you what's going on in your auto that even the most unmechanical customer can understand. They def deserve 5 stars. If I had to think of a con, I'd say labour is a bit pricey ($100/hr), but, that's relative in central Hollywood. You can spend hours scouring Google for cheaper auto repair shops, or you can visit one that will do quality work and will earn your repeat business. Amenities include: magazines, TV, coffee and doughnuts (I don't eat either of the latter, but still nice to see ;)

Hey this is a great and affordable place to get an $18 oil change. I was fortunate enough to pick up a deal, but learned that the price I paid was their normal price. Not quite sure if that was a deal for me, either way they are affordable especially in this economy. Call before you stop by or you can drop the vehicle off.

So, I just moved to LA and the first crooks I have come across in this city are the mechanics. I honestly don't know who to trust in this city with my car. Since I was having brake issues, I called around for the cheapest quote on new brake pads. They quoted me the cheapest, so I stopped in. The guy (super nice) lifted my car and took the time to show me that my brake pads were actually fine. He advised I could keep driving on them for several thousand more miles. I decided to milk his knowledge (and honesty) on another bumpy issue i was having with my car. He took the car for a test drive and told me it was definitely unsafe for a further driving. He lifted me car again and discovered it was a actually a minor issue of having a bad uneven tire. He didn't have the tire, but advised me to take care of it right away. He even gave me a price range to stay in so I wouldn't get ripped off. . I have never met a mechanic that took so much time with me on my car and had nothing to gain. I got my tire replaced down the street, but I'm definitely returning here! I was very grateful for the tips.

Totally surprised by the occasional hate for these guys. I went in a year or so ago because they had really good Yelp reviews (then) and my Honda Civic was making a clunking noise on the left front tire. They explained to me what it was, actually showed it to me on the car (I think it was my control arm) and gave me a fair quote, something like $700 to replace both front control arms - they told me the other was really worn because it was taking all of the car's strain and I believe them because, like I said, they showed me and then let me decide what I wanted to do. They said it would take a few hours, so I walked to ArcLight to see a movie and when I came back it was all done, and it actually came in at less than their quote. Maybe not the cheapest, but I appreciated the honesty and how quick they were. Also, why do people complain and rate poorly on a high quote? I don't get it, if you haven't paid for it yet, who cares - I'd rather get good service personally (and I was a broke film intern/slave when I went to them).
